Salsa Contest

The Pasco Fiery Foods Festival welcomes your participation in this year's "Sweet & Savory" Salsa Contest on Saturday, September 12th, 2009 during the Festival. The contest continues to be a popular Festival feature and attraction.

Each contestant will receive a $25 stipend. The stipend is intended to help offset the cost of the salsa ingredients. Currently we are seeking a cash sponsor for the contest and expect to have cash prizes and recognition items. "People's Choice" and 1st, 2nd & 3rd Prize Winners as determined by Contest Judges. All those participating will be given a certificate. Salsas will be judged on taste, smell, look, and presentation.

General Guidelines

  • All preparations will take place at the contest.
  • Schedule of Events

    • Check in: 8:00 AM
    • Judging: 11:00 AM (Approximately)
    • Public Tasting: 12:30 PM

  • Winners will be announced around 3:45 PM on the Festival's Stage.


We will provide:

4-foot Work Area, Sampling Spoons, Cups, Tortilla Chips for tasting, Vegetable/Hand Washing Facility, Electricity for Food Processors, Paper towels, Table Cloths and One (1) Refrigerator for all participants to use.

You will provide:
  • Complete Application and Recipe by Friday, August 28, 2009
  • Three (3) gallons of your salsa recipe for public tasting
  • Any equipment (cutting board, knives, etc) needed to prepare your recipe
  • A cooler with ice
  • Two (2) people on-site to prep the area, prepare recipe, provide samples and clean up
    area.




No more than two (2) people per entry/recipe will be allowed inside the pre area.

Salsas will be judged on taste, smell, look, and presentation



Please be aware that all entries must abide by the rules and regulations of the Benton/Franklin
Health Department. You must contact them and advise them of your participation.
